Ben and Andy’s modern, monochrome master bathroom impressed the judges on The Block AU, but they made one small mistake that cost them a lot

From textured tiles to statement tapware and elegant colour palettes, teams on The Block Australia served up five standout bathrooms. We take a tour through Ben and Andy’s master bathroom and take a closer look at their design details.
Master bathroom
What an opportunity down the gurgler! No toilet in the bathroom left the judges cold. “Big mistake,” Shaynna said. A baffled Darren said buyers would baulk at its absence. “We wanted to take it out and make it more of a luxury space,” Ben said.
The lost loo was a costly mistake, as the judges found it hard to ignore, despite the fact there was still a lot to like in the room. Neale said the artwork, with a nod to the building, was truly inspired. Also receiving a tick of approval were the marble feature tiles in a herringbone pattern, which were “an absolute standout”, said Darren. If only they hadn’t done in the dunny.

Bathroom Tips
- Make sure you have great lighting in the bathroom. A pendant light over the basin will ensure you’re never in the dark.
- A recessed shelf next to the bath offers ample room for toiletries.
- Choosing a feature tile in the bathroom adds wow factor.
- A floor-mounted bath spout makes a visual statement in the space.
