A hexagonal home office gets the tropical treatment
Adrienne Morgan’s home office is not your usual working-from-home set-up. It’s located next to a unique ’70s pole house; a stand-alone hexagonal room off the deck that resembles more treehouse than workplace. “Initially, this area had a cold and uninviting atmosphere, with maroon-painted walls and worn sisal flooring, leaving it unused for years,” she says. The Palmerston North local got to work on transforming the space, adding new flooring and insulating the walls.
When questions arose as how to decorate the space, they only had to look outside for inspiration. “To enhance the connection with the surrounding tree-filled environment, we selected a Resene wallpaper from the Eden collection. Its captivating leaf and flower pattern beautifully complements the natural backdrop,” she says. The pair settled on Resene Wallpaper Collection M37801, a leafy paradise of tropical flora. Putting the wallpaper up was a “relatively straightforward” task for Adrienne’s husband Tony Ward, although the pair did encounter an unexpected challenge — a sizeable wasp nest that had to be safely removed.
“This revitalisation process has turned the space into a well-utilised sanctuary, bringing us immense joy whenever we spend time there,” Adrienne says. “With every improvement made, our home office has truly blossomed into a haven of productivity and inspiration, harmonising effortlessly with its natural surroundings.”
