This week, The Block NZ teams had to tackle a master bedroom, ensuite AND walk-in-wardrobe. But it was all worth it for the biggest prize in Block history
The Block NZ teams battle it out to win the biggest room reveal prize ever
Double the rooms meant double the prize money and double the drama this week on The Block NZ. Master bedroom and ensuite week was full on from start to finish with the teams racing (some not so successfully) against the clock.
With so much at stake, the gloves were off and we saw the contestants get sneaky and strategic as they tried to stop room reveal champions Amy and Stu from winning yet again. Even Claire and Agni’s efforts to trip up Amy and Stu by giving them a My Little Pony fabric for their ‘Give and Take’ challenge was to no avail. Amy and Stu pulled off yet another stunning bedroom by swapping out their signature colourful style for fresh white walls and pared-back accessories.
Chlo and Em also nailed their Morrocan themed master bedroom this week with striking a charcoal colour, bold headboard and a luxurious mix of materials. The judges loved the look and their generous scores saw the Palmy besties neck and neck with Amy and Stu on the scoreboard.
Just as Amy and Stu have a track record for winning the room reveals, Ben and Tom have unfortunately formed a habit of not completing theirs. The boys were scored a 2 by Jason for their unfinished space, who went on to describe their room as “cold and lifeless.” Claire and Agni had the opposite problem with their over-zealous styling getting the better of them again.
In the final dash to the finish line, the game playing continued and it all got quite confusing. Chlo and Em traded a ‘plus one’ from Ben and Tom, Amy and Stu used their ‘minus one’ and the possible fate of the next room reveal winner now lies in the hands of Claire and Agni’s ‘undo card’. Despite all the complicated tactics, one thing is for certain: this $12,000 room reveal prize is going to make a huge difference to the winning team.

The judges loved the use of mottled glass for the shower. It creates privacy and also helps to bounce the light around the space.

The master bedroom.
Bonham said the room was an “overly masculine space with no colour whatsoever”. However we did like the combination of green textiles and timber.
To make the bedroom and bathroom bigger, Ben and Tom decided to get rid of their walk-in-wardrobe. The judges said this decision was an “epic fail”.
Ben and Tom had seven tilers working all week to get their ensuite completed.
Unfortunately the judges thought the tiles made the space too cold
Ben and Tom thought their ensuite was really elegant.

Chlo and Em were neck and neck with Amy and Stu for their Moroccan themed bedroom.
The judges loved the mix of colours and materials.
For their ‘Give and Take’ challenge Chlo and Em reupholstered an old piano stool with fabric chosen by Amy and Stu. The judges loved it and the girls won the challenge.
Chlo and Em were undecided about the colour in their bathroom and despite advice from Shelley about using a soft terracotta colour on their walls the girls decided to stick with white.
The judges thought colour on the walls could have really lifted the space.
The statement tile floor and metal shower gives the bathroom a sophisticated edge.
Kristina loved the fact they’d added art into the space.

After their desert theme fell flat in week one Claire and Agni decided to try again in their master bedroom.
The judges loved the warm terracotta wall colour but felt the space was too over styled.
The lack of cohesion and over styling was the feedback Claire and Agni received for their outdoor space too.
The PlaceMakers wardrobe has lots of clever storage.
The judges liked the statement floor tiles but again thought the styling was too much.
They said the bathroom should make you feel relaxed and this room did the opposite.
