How to make a colourful Perspex vase

1 Choose a size and shape for your vase and make a template by drawing it onto some paper or cardboard and cutting out.

2 Trace around the stencil onto your Perspex using a marker.

3 Cut around the lines using a jigsaw with an ultra-fine blade on it. You may like to clamp the Perspex to a bench.

4 Give all the edges a light sand to smooth them off. Be careful not to sand the faces as this will leave scratches.

5 Start gluing the pieces together. You can do this with super glue or a hot glue gun. I used painter’s tape to hold the pieces in place while the glue sets. If you are using super glue, take care not to get it on the faces of the Perspex as it is difficult to get off. If you are using hot glue, you will need to trim the excess glue off once it is dry with a sharp blade.

If you want to make a bowl, use a square sheet of Perspex and heat in the oven on 140°C for 10 minutes before moulding it into your desired shape.
