Representatives of “more is more”, skilled wheelers and dealers Claire and Agni became known during their time on The Block NZ as the team unafraid to pack a room with colour, pattern, texture and cushions. Their jungle/tropical inspired rooms either earned the judges praise or had them asking for less. “Overstyling” was a phrase often used at room reveal time, while their finishing also left something to be desired.
The couple hit a low point at week two when they presented an incomplete bathroom to the judges, receiving the lowest score of the season; a 4.5.
But, emboldened never to repeat their week two disaster, Claire and Agni bounced back and pulled out two room reveal wins for their living room and landing in the following weeks.
No room in house one has escaped Claire and Agni’s colour treatment. Bedrooms are honey yellow, terracotta orange and navy blue, the living room is forest green and the dining room a mustard yellow. Even the garage got a splash of rich lapis blue.
But no matter how colourful their rooms were, they paled in comparison to the drama that surrounded these two this season. Driving bans, scheming, and feuds with Amy and Stu plagued Claire and Agni from episode to episode. Site foreman Peter Wolfcamp’s yell of “Agni” after seeing his painting efforts is still ringing in everyone’s ears and even builder Dylan was caught loosing is temper at team orange because of their preference for sleep over work.
Challenge wins weren’t something these two could hang their hats on, but some skilled wheeling and dealing combined with an uncanny ability to win game changer points was.

Claire and Agni wanted their entrance to connect with the other colours they’ve used in the house without making it a “rainbow house.”

Their entrance connects to the powder room, laundry and garage.

The judges both agreed that the colour and tile choice in Claire and Agni’s laundry was brilliant.

The large artwork impressed the judges, they said it introduced the theme of the house well.

Mustard yellow walls give the dining room some “pop”.

Claire and Agni chose a large marble tile to feature on their kitchen island.

A butler’s pantry sits behind the kitchen.

The gallery-like kitchen sits in between the living room and the dining room.

The judges loved Claire and Agni’s use of colour and texture in the living room.

The family bathroom was their lowest score of the season; a 4.5.

Their vision for the space was a luscious, green retreat.

Claire and Ag chose to re-do their kid’s bedroom. The judges were really impressed by the standard of finishing and the styling.

Judge Kristina Rapley loved the choice of wallpaper.

Even the staircase up to the top floor has a statement colour.

“We’ve created something that we’re so proud of,” said Agni about their multi-use space on the landing.

The playful jungle print was a risk but the judges liked it.

The landing space could be used as a study.

Or, with this fold out bed, it could be used as a guest bedroom.

The glass partition and heavy velvet drapes give the option for an open or cosy feel.

The judges were impressed by Claire and Agni’simprovement from previous weeks.

After their desert theme fell flat in week one Claire and Agni decided to try again in their master bedroom.

The judges loved the warm terracotta wall colour but felt the space was too over styled.

The judges liked the statement floor tiles but again thought the styling was too much.

They said the bathroom should make you feel relaxed and this room did the opposite.

The judges thought Claire and Agni’s pegboard wall was a clever idea, which would allow future buyers to adjust the storage to suit their needs.

Claire and Agni were the only team to use colour in their garage.

The storage area off the garage has been transformed into a secret fourth bedroom. However site foreman Peter Wolfcamp informed the team during their last week that this room wasn’t technically allowed to be a bedroom, because it didn’t have any windows.

Claire and Agni created a relaxing, lounge area in their patio.

The judges thought the glass wall and outdoor rug was a great idea.
