Diane Keaton’s restored mid-century masterpiece hits the market

A home that's as iconic as the actress.

In the golden light of Rustic Canyon, tucked beyond a long, private drive, a home that has Diane Keaton’s iconic style written all over it quietly waits.

Originally designed by Lloyd Wright, son of the legendary American architect Frank Lloyd Wright – and built in 1948 for nine-time Oscar-winning composer Alfred Newman, this Pacific Palisades estate has played host to Hollywood history.

For actress and director Diane Keaton, the home was more than a house – it was a muse. Known for her devotion to design, Diane brought new life to the mid-century masterpiece, carefully reviving its original character while gently layering in warmth and modernity.

She reimagined the kitchen with elegance and restraint, restored intricate woodwork and built-ins, and transformed the main suite into a romantic glass-walled retreat perched above the treetops.

There are sweeping views of the sycamore-studded grounds, the pool and the canyon beyond. Exposed brick and concrete interiors reflect Wright’s genius for organic design, while walls of glass invite the outdoors in.

A true tastemaker, Keaton knows her way around interiors. She’s even launched her own homewares range, Keaton Industries, in collaboration with Aidan Gray, and created a line with Hudson Grace – naturally, in her go-to black and white.

Although Diane no longer lives in the home, its decor still reflects her signature style – especially in artworks that give a playful wink to her iconic hat and glasses.

Restored built-in furniture and original details blend seamlessly with modern comforts. The 1.4-acre estate also features two separate bedroom suites and a guesthouse with its own music studio – a nod to the home’s musical past.

Outside, the living areas feel timeless. A brick oven fireplace, sculptural gardens and generous open spaces give the property both charm and cinematic flair.

Now, for the first time in years, this home is on the market. Surrounded by oaks and fruit trees, and full of quiet character, it’s more than a house – it’s a piece of Hollywood history.
