When it landed on the cover of Architectural Digest in 2022, Sienna Miller‘s English cottage instantly became the envy of every person who has ever dreamed about an escape to the country. Now, somebody’s dreams of owning an idyllic country retreat are set to come true, because Miller has just listed the home for sale.
Rivalling Kate Winslet’s home in The Holiday, the quintessential country cottage has provided a haven for the 43-year-old actress for nearly 20 years. Seeking an escape from “intense” London life, Miller purchased the home when she was just 25 for an undisclosed amount. Now, it’s hitting the market again for an asking price of £1.95 million (approx. NZ$4.5 million).

The Tudor cottage dates back to the 16th century, with its characteristic cream exterior, dark timber beams, and prominent thatched roof. The home was later extended in the 1970s and has once again become all the more enchanting thanks to Miller’s stylish touch.

Guided by Miller’s friend and film director, Gabby Dellal—who Miller described as having “the best taste of anyone I’ve ever met”—the Alfie actress transformed parts of the cottage into a magazine-worthy retreat. A combination of raw timber furnishings, original heritage features, and contemporary artworks, this idyllic cottage caters to the wildest English countryside fantasies.
The best of both worlds, the property in the Toweridge hamlet in Buckinghamshire, is only an hour out of London. Set amid wildflower meadows on nearly an acre of land, it’s the picture of both seclusion and style.

Inside Sienna’s rural retreat is the picture of rustic farmhouse style. With 1920s Crittall doors opening on to the patio, the combined kitchen and informal dining area is flooded with light and views of the surrounding wildflower gardens. Miller, an avid cook, revealed to Architectural Digest that her “favourite thing” about the home is a Lacanche range cooker.
A larger formal dining space sits beneath double-height ceilings and a gallery landing (which Miller calls her ‘Juliet balcony’), where Miller’s daughter Marlow and her friend reportedly put on plays.

The cream and blush-coloured interiors offer an additional warmth to spaces filled with antique furnishings.
For a relatively small, 178sqm family home, the property contains a total of five bedrooms (plus a converted outhouse flat), four bathrooms and three living areas. The main sitting room offers an open hearth fireplace, with ceiling beams and original wooden floorboards.

The smaller of the living rooms, which Miller, her partner, Oli Green, and their two children use as a TV room, is hidden away in the older section of the house, with low ceilings creating a cave-like cosiness.
The first floor, reached via an original timber staircase, contains three bedrooms and a bathroom. The main suite is a dream retreat, complete with artistic personal flourishes, like Maison C wallpaper (described by Miller as featuring “dancing witches”). Double French doors open up to a private balcony, which still offers enough privacy to soag in the room’s free standing tub while enjoying the fresh, country air.

Outdoors is just as dreamy, featuring designer gardens and a refurbished shed that has been converted into a granny flat. “[This is] where I send my friends who are madly in love because it’s very romantic,” Miller shared during her 2022 AD home tour.
Tucked away on a private family estate with no other cottages, spare a gamekeeper’s dwellings down the lane, Sienna Miller’s former home will be an idyllic retreat for dreamers.
