With its iconic storyline – Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz’s characters swap homes, with Iris (Winslet) staying in Amanda’s (Diaz) Los Angeles house and Amanda relocating to Iris’s cottage in Surrey – The Holiday has solidified itself as a Christmas classic.

While it may be disappointing for admirers of the 2006 romantic comedy to hear that the provincial cottage from the movie was a temporary film set, one property in Georgia has brought the paradisiacal storybook fantasy to life. Painstakingly emulated to match the film’s charming stone exterior and fastidious interiors, the holiday rental adopts the essence of the English country cottage, offering visitors the chance to experience it firsthand.

Inside The Holiday cottage replica

Set among rolling hills in north Georgia, USA, the cottage mirrors the idyllic setting of the film’s fictional Rosehill Village. The replica has been constructed by Lucy Small of State and Season Home Design and Supply and is welcoming guests as a holiday rental in Ellijay, Georgia, approximately one hour from Atlanta. Plucked from the bucolic foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the two-storey property sits on more than six acres and substitutes the film’s English countryside setting for mountain views.

According to official materials, the house layout closely follows the fictional design from the film. The interior comprises a living room with stone walls, exposed beams and a wood-burning fireplace; a kitchen with blue shaker-style cabinetry and a second fireplace; two upstairs bedrooms, each with a king bed and en suite bathroom; a queen sofa bed downstairs; and a primary bedroom with vaulted ceilings and a king bed. The bathroom replicates the small tub featured in the movie, adapted for comfort. Outdoor features include a patio with a fire pit and a year-round hot tub.

The cottage also provides access to nearby attractions. Ellijay is known as Georgia’s “Apple Capital,” with orchards to explore, as well as scenic hikes such as the Amicalola Falls Trail. The region is home to wine destinations, including sparkling offerings at Wolf Mountain Vineyards and French-inspired whites and reds at Frogtown Cellars.
