Once reserved for professional chefs and high-end kitchen fitouts, Electrolux is bringing intelligent steam technology into New Zealand homes for more flavourful, healthier meals accessible.
At the centre of Electrolux’s range is the 800 Series Steam Oven, which switches between a traditional oven and steam oven.
Australian celebrity chef Matt Stone, known for championing zero-waste cooking, has partnered with Electrolux for the launch. He says steam is not about changing how you cook but about improving the results you get.
“Steam gives you precision without pressure,” says Stone.
“You can achieve crisp skin on duck, tender greens and soft, delicate desserts — all from the same oven. It’s not restrictive but empowering.”

A closer look at the benefits of steam cooking
Steam cooking has long been central to Scandinavian cuisine, valued for its ability to speed up cooking while delivering precise heat. It keeps food moist and tender inside, without drying out or overcooking, and enhances natural flavours.
Steaming also retains more nutrients than boiling and transforms tough, fibrous vegetables into tender, more easily digestible morsels for healthier results. It’s not just for greens either; steam elevates the taste and texture of meats, seafood, bread and desserts.
How Electrolux brings intelligent steam technology to your kitchen
Electrolux’s “Steam when you need it” approach lets you choose exactly how much steam to use, for more control over texture, moisture and finish.
Key functions of the Electrolux 800 Series Steam Oven:
- Steamify (automatic): Automatically adds steam when baking at 180°
- SteamBake (light steam): A burst of steam helps create bakery-style results with crisp crusts and soft centres
- SteamCrisp (medium steam): Combines heat and steam while retaining moisture for juicy roasts with golden, crispy finishes
- SteamPro (full steam): Full steam cooking for meats, fish and vegetables

A multifunctional appliance for modern cooks
Beyond its steam credentials, the Electrolux 800 Series Oven features additional modes for air frying, slow cooking, dehydrating, dough proving, baking and plate warming. It’s an efficient in-built solution to replace multiple standalone appliances, particularly when bench space is at a premium.
What can I cook in my Electrolux Steam Oven?
We’re taking cues from celebrity chef Matt Moran. To showcase the versatility of the Electrolux steam oven range, Stone has created a number of Nordic-inspired recipes with an Antipodean twist, including Crispy Duck Breast with Greens & Blackberry Sauce, and Steamed Mussels with Brown Butter.
