Create your own dream room makeover moodboard and be in to win $2000

Moodboards help crystallise your random ideas and design preferences into a strong and cohesive interior style. They’re invaluable in a redecorating or renovations project. Make it, then manifest your dream room into a reality.

1. Decide which room you’re going to create a moodboard for. Start by collecting images and clippings of colours, textiles, decorating styles, patterns, hardware and furniture you like. A pattern will start to emerge, whether it’s natural, tonal colours and textured linens, or a palette of blue and white, canvas and white-washed tables.

2. For painted colour inspo, load a photo that could be interiors, landscapes or even favourite memories into the Resene Colour Palette Generator. It will suggest a palette of Resene colours to help get you started.

3. Cull the images and ideas that don’t fit with the emerging look.

4. Paste the remaining pictures into the main area of the board.

5. Then, do the same with other materials, furniture, fixtures, hardware, lighting, colour palette, Resene paints and wallpapers and decorative accessories.

6. When you’ve got your vision together, you’ll then need to track everything down but don’t be afraid to swap things out for a more budget-friendly version of what’s on your moodboard, or swapping a large light for a smaller one that better suits your house.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR MOODBOARD ON YOUR PHONE

1. Download the moodboard below and save into your files.

2. Search the internet for any images you like, once you have found your image, click the image and copy.

3. Open the notes app, and paste the image into a new note. Now copy that image in the notes.

4. Open the files app, and open the moodboard PDF. Now paste the image you have just copied. You can resize and move it around to place it exactly where you want on the moodboard.

5. To add a textbox, click Markup (circle icon with a pen in it), then click the + butoon, then tap Add Text. Tap the textbox and start typing, move the textbox to the right location.

6. Don’t forget to save!

When you’ve got a moodboard for a room you’re happy with, take a photo of it and enter below, labelling the Resene paints and/or Resene wallpapers. The moodboards of the five finalists, including the winner, will appear in the April issue. Entries close 15 February 2024.
