The home used as the residence for teenage sex therapist Otis Milburn (played by Asa Butterfield) and his sex therapist mother, Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson), has hit the market in real life. The unusual five-bedroom Scandinavian-style home known as ‘The Chalet Symonds Yat’, perched on a slope on the edge of the River Wye in England’s Herefordshire, is on the market for a cool £1.5 million.

Built in 1912, the house is known as The Chalet and is located on four-and-a-half acres in Symonds Yat in the Wye Valley. The property is propped on the border of England and Wales in a location that has been dubbed an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

For fans who fancy having morning coffee or reading the paper out on the terrace, soaking up the stunning natural surroundings as the mother-son sex therapist duo do, there are plenty of spaces to do so.

Sex Education House – Shop the Look

Red wooden slats make up the exterior of the gorgeous, albeit quirky property that stands out in its surrounds of verdant greenery. As those who have seen Sex Education and remember Otis’ daily school commute will know, there’s a steep walk to the road, or there is a long driveway through woodland leading straight to the house.

Inside, the house is painted in natural and pastel shades, and five log-burning stoves can be found on the ground floor. The ground floor is also where you’ll find the two sitting rooms, kitchen, dining room, laundry room and snug.

All the rooms have high ceilings and are well proportioned, and large windows all look out to the woodland and Wye River surrounds.

The current owner scooped up the hillside lodge more than 20 years ago, in 2002, and has since put the place through a massive renovation. The 3,100-square-foot property comprises five bedrooms and three bathrooms. More recent updates include new plumbing and electric systems, a new roof, and a custom-painted kitchen. The conservatory has also been enlarged.

In addition to the home, the property has two greenhouses, an orchard, and a summer house. Marketing material indicates there’s an old chapel at the top of the driveway that is also available to purchase by separate negotiation. One of the lower decks is equipped with a Swedish wood-burning tub, while another sports a stone pizza oven. Also not fictionalised for the TV show are the oh-so-real river views.

The property has been featured in other location shoots, including the UK Channel 4 series Extraordinary Escapes.
