Annette Long wears many hats. She’s a mother, a full-time student, and more recently, a business owner since taking over the homewares brand Aspen & Fern, which you’ll find on our marketplace Shop Your Home and Garden. Busy with her two young boys, Annette knows organisation is key for a busy household.

Aspen & Fern Buttercups flax linen duvet cover

$269, from Shop Your Home and Garden

This duvet is one of my favourites. It’s made from French flax linen and dotted with buttercups, this piece has become a beautiful addition to our bedroom. I love how we can easily mix and match it with our other bedding too, making it so easy to use.

Joseph Joseph Cosmetic Organiser

$59.99, from Briscoes

This is an adult version of my boys’ organiser (bottom of this page). ”Tidy space, tidy mind” is more than a catchy saying, it helps create a positive mindset and my bathroom is now clean and organised.

Flint rechargeable lighter

$78, from Aspen & Fern

Using this lighter has become part of my daily routine, helping create a calm and cosy atmosphere as I light my scented candles.

The Flint lighter is the perfect blend of style and practicality, is simple to use, safe, reduces the need for disposable lighters and, due to its length, makes it easy to rekindle burned-down candles.

Teresamaree clay mug in Evergreen

$45, from Shop Your Home and Garden

When I get time to myself for a relaxing cup of tea, this mug is my go-to. It feels so weighty and has beautiful character and texture. It just feels special. I love the natural colours and the dropping green glaze. The imperfections in handcrafted items add charm.

Toy storage in maple with white bins

$129.95, from Little Nation

This storage solution helps bring about a sense of calm when all the toy animals, cars, and blocks are hidden away. It has become one of my favourite pieces for so many reasons – it’s durable, safe and an easy height for my boys to access.

In time, the boys will help with the post-playtime clean-up, and it’s a perfect design for them to see where each of their toys belongs. In time, it will be repurposed to hold craft supplies or even garden tools.
