Impress guests at your next dinner party using these clever DIY tips and tricks.

Practice your designs. A3 paper is perfect for creating a placemat and A5 paper is best for the menu backing, menu, place card, and coaster. Practice painting with watercolour before you create your final dinner party pieces, try different designs on your paper until you get the desired look you’re after.

Personalise your table settings with place cards.  Paint your design onto a small piece of card and add some stickers to create the name.  Guests will love the extra touch.

To create your individual menus, take an A5 sheet of watercolour paper and paint your design onto it. Type up your menu, print out and cut to fit on top of your A5 sheet.  Clip both onto an A5 clipboard.

Create your own coasters using the watercolour paper, cut a circle from the paper and paint your design onto it.

A table setting is not complete without a candle. Take some inexpensive tea light candles and decorate them to suit your theme by wrapping washi tape around the outside or gluing some glitter to the outside.
