Johanna Thornton has been digital editor of Homes to Love for seven months. She was previously the deputy editor of Your Home and Garden and Taste magazines.

My best friend alerted me to this design when she was shopping for a couch for her new house. We bonded over the rose pink colour of this dream couch from Australian company Pop & Scott. It also comes in a beautiful emerald green – both colours are welcome at my place.

I love being surrounded by indoor plants – they bring  freshness and life to an interior. I’m always on the lookout for cool planters and this Arbor planter by Wellington designer Alex Buckman is currently on my wish-list. This comes in a pistachio colour too – can you imagine?

The Atlas rug from Armadillo and Co takes its cue from Moroccan beni ourain rugs. I love its soft natural tones and the simple diamond pattern.

I come across a lot of amazing homes through my job as digital editor and every time I see a design by Fearon Hay architects I go into daydream mode. I’m especially enjoying the Great Barrier getaway (pictured) and this timber and concrete farmhouse in the Waitakere ranges.

This leather and wood Low Rider chair from Indie Home Collective would be right at home in my bedroom.

There are candles and then there are candles, and these ones by New Zealand company Curio Noir are the real deal. I’ve just finished the Tobacco Night candle and am using the handblown glass vessel as a vase. I’m now eyeing up this Vetyver Bouquet scent, which is a mix of orange flower, cypress, jasmine and vetiver.

I’m a big fan of linen bedding – its unironed appearance makes it look so relaxed and inviting. My next purchase will be the Cultiver Linen sheet set in Blush from Let Liv.

It’s not often I spend an afternoon in the kitchen but when I do I like to get serious with an apron. This made-to-order apron from White Label Designs is crafted from cotton canvas and features removable leather straps.

If I could sleep in silk every night of the week I’d be a happy gal. This silk Lucidity slip from Miss Crabb would do nicely.

There’s something about parquet flooring that gets me every time. Maybe it’s because you usually see it in beautiful French or Scandinavian apartments, like this one in Stockholm. Image via Fancy Design Blog.

They don’t call Mecca Cosmetica a mecca for nothing! This store really is the home of all things beauty, and stocks some of my favourite brands such as Dyptique (pictured), Eve Lom, Byredo, Nars and Ren.
