Anna-Marie Chin Architects are a Queenstown based architectural firm with a commitment to design that sits at ease with the landscape of the site.
The practice was the winner of the 2016 Best Small Home title was this stylish, sleek, 120-square-metre marvel near Queenstown. It’s a design that takes creative licence in tight design constraints. Chin’s reinterpretation of the prescribed pitched rooves and limited material palette of the subdivision resulted in this black asymmetrical form that packs a huge amount of experiences into its petite shell.
It’s a home that proves how brave responses to tight design controls can yield exciting results, and that suburban developments needn’t be afraid of bold design. It also shows how, with well-designed spaces, small homes can easily be made flexible enough to host a crowd.
