Architect Leuschke Kahn believes that “architecture is the art of creating spaces for people to enjoy – even love being in – not just for a short time, but as long as they chose to live or work there.” The practice is based in Auckland, and they offer a full professional architectural service from design to administration. With a wide range of knowledge, the team are able to assist you with the project down to the last detail – such as lighting design or landscaping finishes.

Their aim is always to create beautiful, functional homes and they pride themselves on successfully catering to clients briefs and needs. Leuschke’s dedication to his work is showcased in this holiday home design in Pauanui, where he spent a weekend sleeping at the family’s old 1970s bach (later sold and relocated to clear space for the new-build) in order to figure out how to make the most of the site, views and sun.
The sketch he came back with included the main house with two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and living spaces. The pièce de résistance, though, was a separate ‘pod’ featuring two bedrooms, each big enough to accommodate a queen-sized bed and a set of bunks, separated by a bathroom in the middle.
