Meet + Greet
Emma O’Meara (interior stylist), Simon O’Meara (plumber), Leni, 11, and Ginger, 8, plus Frankie the Labrador.
What’s your top tip when building or renovating? Emma: “It’s so important to always ask questions, even if you think they sound silly. Questions are cheap. I can remember arriving on site at one point to find something I wasn’t happy with, which resulted in my not sleeping and thinking about it over and over, before I finally acted on it. Go with your gut and your instincts – they won’t let you down.
Has the plunge pool (pictured opposite) been a worthwhile investment? The plunge pool is the icing on the cake. The girls love it!
How long did the build take? After eight months of planning, the build took nine months.
What did it cost? The build (which was three years ago now) came in somewhere around AU$500K-$580K.
Emma’s style tips
Keep your colours consistent. If you are going for bright accent colours, make sure they are referenced throughout the home in some way. This can be as simple as a cushion or vase.
Make sure grouped artworks work well together. If you are going to do a gallery wall, make sure all the media and imagery look cohesive together, or create a similar effect by using uniform frames.
