This candy-coloured home makes you smile whether you’re inside or out
Meet & Greet:
Emma O’Meara (interior stylist), Simon O’Meara (plumber), Leni, 11, and Ginger, 8, plus Frankie the Labrador.
Honesty box:
What’s your top tip when building or renovating?
Emma: “It’s so important to always ask questions, even if you think they sound silly. Questions are cheap. I can remember arriving on site at one point to find something I wasn’t happy with, which resulted in my not sleeping and thinking about it over and over, before I finally acted on it. Go with your gut and your instincts – they won’t let you down.
Has the plunge pool been a worthwhile investment?
The plunge pool is the icing on the cake. The girls love it!
How long did the build take? After eight months of planning, the build took nine months.
What did it cost? The build (which was three years ago now) came in somewhere around AU$500K-$580K.
Emma’s styling tips:
Keep your colours consistent
If you are going for bright accent colours, make sure they are referenced throughout the home in some way. This can be as simple as a cushion or vase.
Make sure grouped artworks work well together
If you are going to do a gallery wall, make sure all the media and imagery look cohesive together or create a similar effect by using uniform frames.

A Kate Moss print hangs beside Bush Medicine Leaves by Margaret Scobie and a piece from the Pink Series diptych by Tory Burke. “I love looking at art, so it was a must for me to have it everywhere,” says Emma. A light from Pop & Scott – adding to other golden accents – illuminates the table.

The living room’s shaggy rug cleverly ties together the soft pink of the custom sofa and the gold of the chair (inherited from Simon’s great-aunt).

A panelled shelf acts as a bedhead and offers plenty of space for the large artwork by Tracey Mock. White walls and a GlobeWest table contrast with the colour on the bed.
