An intimate, luxurious and bespoke hair salon on Auckland’s North Shore has created a holistic centre of beauty and wellbeing, incorporating a space for yoga and events, too
Belinda wanted to create a look that blended into the natural surrounds, as well as an atmosphere of wellbeing where nature meets nurture. Indoor-outdoor flow was important, as well as break-out spaces outdoors and an organic vege patch.

Owner Belinda Robb established Biba Salon in 2007. Floral mural artwork by Imogen Greenfield.

In 2014, Belinda expanded to larger premises, relocating to this 100-square-metre loft-style space just 150 metres down the road, which offered the ideal blank canvas. Furniture by homage.co.nz

Belinda designed and project-managed the entire six-month fit-out, employing a now-retired shopfitter to carry out the building work.

Take away the yoga mats and you have a beautiful, calming space which like-minded businesses can hire for events.

Living greenery was an important part of Belinda’s design for two reasons: aesthetics and the purification of air. Plants by Annie Oxborough, botanical stylist.
