Natalie Du Bois redesigns a master bedroom ensuite with warm style

My clients wanted their renovated master bedroom to feel natural and warm. It also needed to be a relaxing, shared space that they could both use at the same time.

Simple limestone tiles were selected for the floors, walls and window surrounds, for to their understated natural look, with a hint of warmth. This simple palette was then contrasted with mixed earthy-tone mosaics, quarter-cut linear oak timber veneer, and a stone-coloured Silestone benchtop – all chosen to make a visual statement as you walk through the doorway into the room. A rustic log, used as a stool, adds to the contrasting, yet complimentary textures and colours.

The his-and-her vanities are positioned symmetrically to the doorway and the twin windows, with plenty of bench space running wall to wall. A pair of simple sculptural bowls sits atop, complimented by the curvaceous freestanding bathtub on one side and balanced by the frameless glass shower stall on the other.

Warm LED lighting within the cabinetry creates mood and gives a floating effect to the vanity, adding to the ambiance and drama of the room. Hidden within the vanity are three Legrabox Blum drawers to house daily items and a small bin.

One of the unusual challenges on this project was finding something to replace the large glass-brick window, located above the bath. The solution was to source an artwork that perfectly fit into the space, disguising the dated glass bricks perfectly.
