Formed in 2012 by father and son architectural duo Gerald and David Melling, Melling Architects has since created some impressive and innovative designs. Sadly, a short time after 2012 Gerald passed away. During his life, he was a celebrated writer and poet and architect who contributed extensively to the architectural landscape in New Zealand. Since his passing, the progression of his work through son David is clear. He has passion and devotion and is destined to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Melling focuses on efficiency and elimination of waste in his designs and he has created some stunning results. Aware that the spiralling of construction costs has made architecture unattainable for many, he attempts to be innovative where possible to find better solutions for less cost.
