From Sophia and Mikaere’s moody, sophisticated look, to Lisa and Ribz’ bubblegum pink style. Here’s how to shop the looks from week one of The Block NZ
Sophia and Mikaere
Team blue knocked it out of the park this week. Their moody, sophisticated guest bedroom impressed the judges with its level of maturity and attention to detail.
Unafraid to go bold, they choose a deep blue-green for the wall colour and gave the heritage of the building a nod with panelling on the wall. They choose tonal blues to compliment the colour of the walls and added subtle pops of maroon and dusky pink to add some life.
Extra details included a curved mirror, custom-made bedside tables and bespoke piece of art by Sophia herself. To give the moody room some light, they painted the doors and skirtings white and installed three pendant lights.
Ethan and Sam
Proving themselves as the darkhorses of the season, Ethan and Sam managed to pull off a second place win this week. Their style is relaxed and modern with a rustic-style twist.
To steal their style, go for wooden timber accents and pair with mustard coloured soft-furnishings, quirky decor objects like gold dinosaurs and short-shaggy rugs.
Stacy and Adam
Third place runners this week were Stacy and Adam with their modern-meets-heritage style room. Their colour palette consisted primarily of pale blue, navy blue, terracotta and pink. A few too many colours in the judges’ opinion.
They also added heritage style panelling on the walls, to match the old firehouse doors they installed. Their styling was considered and paired back, with a ladder from Citta adding an elegant touch, mirrored in the velvet ottoman and grey occasional chair.
Lisa and RibzSee
This week on The Block NZ, Lisa set out to create a New York-loft-boutique-hotel style.
She went with bubble-gum pink walls, pink bedding with navy blue accents, a black and white print and one mustard coloured throw. She was happy with the end result but the judges were less than impressed.
