It’s shaping up to be another massive year of The Block Australia, as contestants renovate five luxury holiday homes on the site of an abandoned resort near the town of Cowes, on Phillip Island on Victoria’s Bass Coast. The island is known in Australia for its Penguin Parade has had a new – slightly less feathered – crew parading around town.

Host Scott Cam is back for his 18th season, joined by trusty co-host Shelley Craft for her 17th season on The Block Australia.

The Block Australia is returning to our screens on Sunday 24th November on ThreeNow and Three at 7.30 pm.

Who are The Block Australia contestants for 2024?

With this season focusing on bringing it back to basics – real people and real renovations – it’s only right that we learn a little bit about the newest batch of competitors that will have us glued to our screens. Not to mention the Allstar Blockheads returning to lend a hand to the 2024 contestants (more on that below).

So, here are your five teams for The Block 2024 and what we know about them so far.

Newlyweds Kristian, 31, and Mimi, 28, are the picture-perfect fitness-obsessed pair from Adelaide who met after a chance encounter at their gym’s Christmas party. Years later, they married in a spectacular ceremony that went viral on TikTok.

With some prior renovation experience, having renovated their current house in Adelaide, Kristian the electrician and Mimi the restaurant manager are no strangers to a hammer or paintbrush.

Parents from Cairns, Kylie, a 37-year-old hairdresser and wholesale and supply business owner, and Brad, a 32-year-old electrician and plumber are also joining this year’s crew. Parents of four young children and boasting a seven-year-strong marriage, the duo brings a strong skillset and fiery passion to the show.

Kylie’s green hair makes her distinctly recognisable, and it only makes sense that she was assigned to the green team. Described as strong, feisty, and someone who sticks to her guns and says what she thinks, we thought her interior style would be bold and daring – and the black bathroom from the first challenge suggests we won’t be disappointed.

Meanwhile, double-tradie Brad brings the technical lighting skills. “Lighting to me is like architecture. That was a real strength for Steph and Gian last year and I hope it will be my strength this year,” he says.

Courtney, 32, and Grant, 29, are a married couple from NSW ready to take on all the drama and renovation chaos The Block entails. They first met in Sydney when Grant was a bartender, before going their separate ways when Courtney decided to live abroad. However, they never lost touch, and were married three years ago.

Despite not having much renovation experience, they’re hardly novices; they built and styled their western Sydney home.

They are set to bring a style the judges have dubbed “Moditerranean” to The Block, a modern take on the traditional Mediterranean style. They definitely deliver on room personality, with judges raving about their guest bedroom during the second room reveal.

“Lovable larrikins” plumber Ricky, 34, and IT manager Haydn, 37, are best mates – who say they’re more like brothers – from Victoria. But the pressure is on for these contestants: with Haydn’s eight-and-a-half-month pregnant wife watching from home, her imminent labour could whisk Haydn away at any point.

Not one to shy away from a job site, Ricky has used his skills in the past to renovate his own Seaford apartment, but admits he blew the budget by $70,000.

It appears Ricky and Haydn will be the much-needed comic relief for when tensions get high, having been seen sporting fish shoes instead of their required work boots in behind-the-scenes pics.

The engaged couple from Perth, Paige, a 27-year-old claims specialist, and her partner Jesse, a 29-year-old carpenter with experience on many big projects, will also be making their debut onto our screens.

Jesse is a meticulous carpenter who wears his heart on his sleeve, and Paige is strong, witty and not one to shy away from expressing her feelings. “I don’t beat around the bush,” she says. They met each other years ago at Jesse’s rugby grand final and, clearly, sparks flew.

With plans to get married later this year after seven years of dating, the young couple came into the show ready to build a home and a life together. Complete renovation novices, the pair were reportedly full of determination to succeed.
