How to create a modern bedroom scheme for a 3-7 year old

Mixing up styles, textures and colours for an eclectic, unisex scheme is a great way to style a kids’ bedroom in the long run

Modern eclectic

With so many interior trends and styles to consider, it’s sometimes hard to decide which to choose when designing a kids’ room. Many like to follow the interior style featured throughout the rest of the house, while others prefer to mix things up. An eclectic space is a mix of styles, textures, colours and prints, so if you’re not a fan of matchy-matchy spaces then this style could be the way to go.

The modern eclectic unisex scheme showcased here features a felt bedhead and toy basket, wooden stool, denim fabric on the chair and pillow, and a mix of patterns including a striped throw, check pillowcase and graphic cushion. With no real dominant colour at play, this scheme can easily be adapted to suit your child’s personality.

If you like this look but want to add more personality…

Top tip

If your child’s room is large enough, consider the addition of a comfortable chair for them to relax, read a book or simply put their shoes on.
