From structural and architectural to a dash of Moroccan inspo, here is how to shop the looks from “the best kitchens on The Block NZ so far”
Shop the looks from The Block NZ kitchen and dining rooms
“Kitchens sell houses” were the words ingrained into The Block NZ teams’ heads by host Mark Richardson at the start of kitchen and dining room week.
For the boys, it was their chance to prove their risky design choices so far had an endgame. Their architectural kitchen with baton feature wall, graphic neon feature lights and ample storage impressed the judges.
Gizzy Hard, Amy and Stu, performed to their usual high standard and yellow colour theme.
The judges felt Chlo and Em could have done a bit more to their Moroccan inspired space in terms of storage, but were impressed by their dining set up – all it needed was a rug.
More-is-more couple Claire and Agni chose a statement marble bench top, yellow walls and a slice of wooden cabinetry.
With four completely different kitchen and dining room layout and designs, there’s plenty of inspiration to take from these rooms. Below we’ve rounded up some quick tips on how to create a kitchen for entertaining, plus check out our shopping mood boards to get The Block NZ looks.
How to create the ultimate entertainers kitchen
- A large and generous kitchen island will provide the perfect spot for guests to gather around and socialise while you whip up some cocktails.
- Create open and easy flow from the kitchen to the dining and living space so the party lives on in each room.
- Get smart with tech-savvy upgrades like wi-fi controlled appliances.
- Make space for a butlers pantry. It gives you extra storage, and a place to hide dirty dishes when guests are over.
- Ensure you find seating with the right balance of style and comfort, you want the space to look good but you also want your guests to be able to sit for hours.
- Install speakers. Whether you’re just cooking on a Wednesday night, or entertaining on a Saturday, a little bit of background music is always a nice touch.
