Article by Homes to Love

The Block 2019 is coming to a close, and it made us think; how does it compare to past seasons? We’ve rounded up some of the best master bedroom and ensuite room reveals from the past six years

The Block NZ

Cat and Jeremy, season 4

Husband and wife duo, Cat and Jeremy, were team yellow in season four of The Block NZ: Villa Wars. Although they didn’t take out the win at auction night, their Sandringham villa was certainly one of the best on the block.

The Block NZ

Their master bedroom and ensuite heroed soft pastel tones, complimented with warm wooden accents. The ensuite featured large cement tiles, matt black fittings and a large double shower.

Niki and Tiff, season 5

Front runners in season five of The Block NZ: Girls vs Boys, Niki and Tiff could do no wrong when it came to room reveals. Their master bedroom and ensuite took out the win with a score of 17/20.

The main feature in their master bedroom were the pendant lights strung from the ceiling. The rest of the room and the ensuite carried their signature tribal-meets-boho look.

Andy and Nate, season 6

Winners of season 6 of The Block NZ: Side X Side, Andy and Nate stacked up a few room reveal wins, one of which was their original master bedroom and ensuite.

Amy and Stu, season 7

The Block NZ season 7 winners Amy and Stu won a grand total of seven room reveals, including their calming master bedroom and retro ensuite.

Forgoing their tendency for bright wall paint, their master bedroom took on a more relaxing feel with white walls and just a few mustard accents. The ensuite channelled a blast from the past with a pink and green colour theme, pastel patterned floor tiles and textured glass.

Chlo and Em, season 7

Also hailing from season seven, although Chlo and Em’s master bedroom and ensuite didn’t take out the win, it does receive an honourable mention (having just lost by one point.)

The Block NZ

The girls channelled a sophisticated Moroccan theme for their master bedroom and ensuite, choosing to go with burnt orange and charcoal in the main colour palette. The ensuite featured beautiful patterned tiles that ran up behind the vanity.

Sophia and Mikaere, season 8

Team blue were disqualified from judging this year on The Block NZ during master bedroom and ensuite week for working past “tools down”. And although we never got to see what score they would’ve received, it’s clear that this was the best master suite on the block.

The Block NZ

Sophia and Mikaere chose to demolish their guest bedroom to give their master more room. Their styling was sophisticated and elegant, with dusty blue walls, matt black accents and heritage features. The ensuite complements the master bedroom perfectly, with floor-to-ceiling tiles and a generous skylight.
