How to style your home with the Swedish philosophy of Lagom

‘Lagom’ is a Swedish word meaning not too little, not too much – it’s just right. Lagom is more a feeling than a fact, one that represents balance and moderation in all areas of life. As the Swedes would say, love, life and lagom!

Put it together

  • For this look, we have created a comfortable yet considered space that evokes the Swedish concept of balance and moderation.
  • The blond wooden furniture from Good Form is by British design house Ercol, which has been in the furniture business since 1920. Light shades of beech and elm gently warm the space, while the soft lines and natural forms lend a sense of relaxation.
  • The furniture is placed in the space in a way that creates depth and allows for movement around the room.
  • We have used a light colour palette, with white tones on the wall and floor anchored by accessories in grey and blush tones.
  • Texture is another main element. The chunky knit throw and ottoman, sheepskin and tactile rug plump up the delicate furnishings and add comfort to the light background.
  • And of course, no interior setting would be complete without your favourite book and a mug of something hot.
