With its delicate flowers and vibrant colour, sedum are perfect for adding a visual burst of warmth into your home during the cooler months
Sedum blossoms: the fluffy flowers that will add warm texture to your home
A stalwart of perennial borders and meadows around the world, Sedum spectabile (reclassified as Hylotelephium spectabile) produces eye-catching flower stems in pinks, reds and creams from late spring to mid-summer that are bee magnets.
Even when not in flower their fleshy grey-green leaves make a strong statement in the garden. Tolerant of clay soil and dry weather, it dies back in autumn to re-emerge in spring.
There is lots of tonal variety in a single stem of sedum, which makes it a gorgeous, sculptural flower. Simply cut stems at varying lengths and display in a vase of fresh water. Cut flowers should last up to 3 weeks if the water is changed regularly.
