 Q+A with Federation’s Jenny Joblin

What’s your go-to store for homeware?

I’ve ended up with such a mix over the years.  And now just add to it if something I really love.  My brother lives in Melbourne and visiting him means a bit of a break and a chance to shop.  I always bring something awkward back from a homeware store there.

How would you describe your interior style?

I love a mix.  A bit of a juxtaposition of old and new.  My favourite things in our home are our sleek leather comfy couches, next to our 10 hide sheepskin rug that my mum’s black 40-year-old chest from when she was in the navy sits on.

What kind of colours are you drawn to when it comes to decorating your home?

As I look around I have to say, black and Ivory.

Are there certain textures that your favour for the home?

I can only deal with leather couches having three kids.  And our dining chairs are old school chairs, so basically easily cleanable?

What’s your best interior tip?

Do what you love.  If you love something so much it makes you smile it belongs in your home.

Do you follow any lifestyle/interiors blogs?

Yes, via Instagram I dream of myself in a lot of different interiors.

What piece of homeware are you currently coveting?

I have just done a new range of neon lights, and keep forgetting to bring one home.  So last few days one of those in our home.

Who is your favourite furniture/lighting/homeware designer?

My husband Ben Dundas has an amazing brand Shooting Sparrow, so hands down it is him.
