Do all your homeware shopping in one location

Westgate Lifestyle brings together some of New Zealand’s favourite home and lifestyle brands anchored by Harvey Norman, Briscoes, Rebel Sport and Freedom. Karl Retief is the general manager – retail of Kiwi Property, the developers behind the centre, and says Westgate Lifestyle offers “relaxed, easy shopping and browsing for products from furniture and homeware stores”.

Along with 19 stores catering to home and lifestyle needs, there are also locations for a quick bite to eat.

Shopable spring and summer trends

Trends for spring/summer homeware are driven by clean and strong structural lines as well as paying homage to classics and reconnecting with nature. The team at Westgate Lifestyle see consumer interest shifting towards slower, grounded and mindful living, which takes form in more pared-back aesthetics. The home is also becoming more welcoming, as consumers look towards leading softer and more gentle lifestyles. As a result, curved lines, padded surfaces and soft textures are slowly appearing in interior and exterior environments.

Ushering in a new season is as easy as making one small update, such as adding a copper lamp or a cosy rug. This Matai Bay bedroom furniture is from Harvey Norman.

Easy updates for the home this spring

Westgate Lifestyle home stylist Erena Te Paa suggests the easiest way to inject change at home is with small items such as “a table lamp, rug or throw”. “These things might have a textural element to them that reference the season. For instance the lamp might have a copper base or the throw might be intricately woven and tactile. If you keep your updates small they are easier to live with so that when or if you decide to make a change it’s easy to do and less likely to break the bank!”

  • Textural pieces add a different dimension to your space while still tying in with your colour scheme.
  • Choose a sisal mat with its course but natural texture, a cane side table or perhaps some woven throw cushions.
  • When it comes to greenery, a simple palm in a belly basket can be stunning in a bedroom or entrance.
  • A beautiful but minimal piece of art is just as nice, for example a still-life of a palm frond or moody oceanscape
