Keep flies and mosquitoes at bay without chemicals with this easy-to-make insect swatter
YOU WILL NEED
Makes 1
- 1 x 50cm length of 15mm diameter dowel
- 1 piece of leather or PVC [I used vegan leather] enough to make two 10cm x 15cm pieces
- Leather adhesive [I used Ados F2]
- Heavy weights [I used old books]
- Scissors
- Sandpaper
- Pencil
- Hammer
- 2-3 small tacks
- Leather or hole punch
Step 1 First spread glue evenly on the underside of the leather. Press together and place heavy weights on top to hold glued pieces together firmly. Step 2 Leave to dry. Step 3 Sand a 3cm-long flat area at one end of your dowel to make an even surface to attach the leather swat. Step 4 Repeat, sanding a flat area on the reverse side.
Step 5 Measure, mark and with sharp scissors cut a 10cm x 15cm rectangle out of the leather. Step 6 Trim with even angled cuts at one end.
Step 7 Trim with even angled cuts at one end.
Step 8 Place some glue on the flattened end of the dowel and attach leather swat to dowel handle with 2-3 small tacks.
