4 fun projects with fabric to do over a weekend

Get creative this weekend and try your hand at one of these super easy craft ideas with fabric

Pillowcase

Type the word of your choice in a text document, increasing the font to your desired size. Print and cut out the letters. Place each letter on the fabric, trace the outline with a marker pen, then cut a square around each. You will need some two-sided iron-on adhesive for the next step (ours was from Spotlight). Cut pieces of adhesive the same size as your fabric squares. Iron the fabric and adhesive together with a hot iron. Cut out the letters, peel off the backing, then iron into place on your pillowcase.

Mousepad

If your old mousepad is looking a little tired, why not spruce it up with your fave fabric? You can also use an inexpensive new pad, as we did. Apply clear craft glue thinly to the top of your mousepad, spreading it right to the edges. Cut a square of fabric bigger than the mousepad and place this on top, smoothing any bumps. Allow to dry well, then trim around the edge with sharp scissors.

Magnets

Take some plain black magnets and apply clear craft glue to the top. Cut small fabric squares slightly bigger than the magnets and place them on top. Once the glue has dried, trim around the edges to remove excess fabric. Use on a whiteboard or fridge.

Keyring

Cut 12 strips of fabric measuring 2cm x 36cm and lay them on top of each other. Take a key ring hook clip and thread the fabric through the loop, folding it in the middle so the ends of the fabric strips meet. Take another small piece of fabric and tie it rightly around the top of the looped fabric to secure. Add your keys.
