What’s new in the homeware world and where to find it

What’s new in the homeware scene – from our place to yours

1. Pillows with forest print

Make bedtime a tranquil experience with these beautiful linen pillowcases from New Zealand brand Penney & Bennett. This stunning forest print with its array of natural greens would look great teamed with crisp white bedlinen or mixed with charcoal or other earth tones. Single pillowcases are $139 from penneyandbennett.co.nz.

2. Scented candles

If you are looking for timeless, classic candles in fragrances to suit any occasion, look no further than Wanaka-based candle company George & Edi.

Their latest collection, ‘The Darker Side’, includes four stunning scents: Liquorice, In Bloom, Bogart and Lavender, all of which have a 50-hour burn time. Tealight candles are also available. Check out the full range at georgeandedi.com.

3. Curved mirror

Move over circular mirrors – the oval is on the upward curve. This shape is great for a long, skinny space or at the end of a hallway.

While there are a few already on the market, we predict this shape will soon be popping up in stores everywhere; we spied this Living & Co wall mirror with shelf, $49, at thewarehouse.co.nz.

4. Circular botanical prints

Adding curvy shapes to your home is a quick and easy way to soften a hard or unwelcoming space.

This round botanical canvas print from EziBuy is the perfect item to give your room an update and balance out its edges, too. Just $59.99 from ezibuy.co.nz.

5. Winter bedlinen

Kip & Co has done it again with the launch of yet another stunning collection of bedlinen, cushions and throws for the cooler months ahead.

This range mixes amazing floral patterns, muted and bold colours and lots of velvet goodies. For local stockists visit kipandco.com.au.

6. Moody floral prints

Photographer Stacey Weaver’s art print collection, Just South West, captures flowers at the end of their best in a moody, beautiful way.

If you are looking for a new-season lift, this print named ‘Bouquet II’ is a lovely choice. From $199 from teapea.co.nz.

7. Velvet cushions

An ordinary velvet cushion becomes something even better with the addition of a chic black border.

New to French Country Collections this season, these luxury velvet cushions are available as rectangles or squares. The only question you’ll be asking yourself is: how many do I need? Priced at $95 each from frenchcountry.co.nz.

8. Personalised birth print

What a gorgeous way to celebrate the birth of a new baby and create a fabulous piece of artwork at the same time. Give a gift that truly will be treasured with this personalised print by designer Lee Sinclair.

The keepsake captures all the important details of the new arrival and would look adorable on a nursery wall or propped on a shelf. From $47 from cloudninecreative.co.nz.

9. Velvet couch

Velvet sofas are so on-trend right now and this mossy green version is not only sophisticated and eye-catching, it is also a great way to add colour to your home.

This classic Marcello & Co style has beautiful, simple lines which will never date. $1999 from farmers.co.nz.
