Why the Home Improvement Expo is a must-visit for anyone planning a reno

Article by Homes to Love

Whether you’re planning a reno, building new or simply giving your interiors a little update, you’ll find all the advice, inspiration, contacts and new products at the Home Improvement Expo

It’s not often you get all the latest products and industry experts in one location. Showcasing everything for your kitchen, bathroom, outdoors, new build materials and interior updates, as well as trends, ideas, advice and quality businesses all focused on the home, here are four reasons why the Home Improvement Expo (showing at the ASB Showgrounds from 28 February – 1 March) should be at the top of your renovation planning to-do list:

1. Renovation inspiration

For most, the idea of renovating is fun and exciting at the start. But, as the reality of planning, organising and carrying out a renovation sets in, it can quickly become overwhelming.

Where to start, what is a realistic budget and who should you be talking to, are questions you need to ask yourself.

The Home Improvement Expo is a gold-mine of industry contacts. You’ll be able to connect with builders, architects, electricians, plumbers and painters, all focussed on home improvement and available to give you advice and ideas.

2. Interior inspiration

Planning a renovation is just the beginning. What will you do with your finished spaces? Picking a wall colour, choosing furniture and accessorising with all the right tones and textures are the next whirlwind of decisions needed to be made on your renovation journey.

Luckily, the experts will be on hand to help you avoid decorating nightmares. Pre-plan some questions to ask when you’re there, for example, what type, colour and texture curtains would work in your living room and do you need different ones for the bedrooms?

Or maybe you’re planning a bathroom renovation, so you’ll be looking at tiles and which grout you should use.

Looking to re-do your kitchen? What do you want to know about layout, appliances, materials and colour?

There are a range of seminar sessions as well as one-on-one consultations that will cover a range of home improvement projects.

3. Smart Home updates

‘Smart home’ and ‘smart technology’ are words and products ever-increasingly making their way into our vocabulary and homes. And if these are still foreign concepts to you, or if you just want to see the possibilities, you can experience it first hand at the Noel Leeming smart home pop up.

Contrary to belief, it’s not all just robots and AI (artificial intelligence). Smart home technology includes wi-fi enabled heat pumps, smart door-locking and security systems, lighting and even the ability to place an online supermarket order from the door of your fridge.

Smart home features are available to be fully integrated into the kitchen, bathroom, laundry, living room and office. The Home Improvement Expo is a great opportunity to discover how you can make your home more ‘smart’ with leading products from Amazon, Samsung, Phillips, Ring, TP-LINK, Bose, Vodafone and HP.

Tech experts will also be on hand to provide advice on in-home setup and even map out a smart home solution for you.

4. Outdoor ideas

Pinterest’s top gardening trends for 2020 hinted that outdoor bars, indoor water features and entire rooms dedicated to plants (a-la your very own secret garden) would be top of everyone’s landscaping and renovating lists this year.

We’ve still got a lot of outdoor living to enjoy, but it’s also never too late to think about how your summer could be improved next year.

Head to the Outdoor Area section to find all the information, tips and inspiration you need for putting in a new pool, paving, checking out the latest outdoor furniture or maybe for installing your new outdoor bar.

The Home Improvement Expo is showing at the ASB Showgrounds from Friday 28 February to Sunday 1 March. Buy tickets online now and save. Tickets: $8 online, $10 on the door, under 18’s free.
