Maguire and Harford Architects

Maguire and Harford Architects was formed by partners Ross Maguire and Braden Harford. They have acquired a vast amount of experience across a number of different briefs including residential, educational and commercial projects. Their designs are created with a desire to create spaces that are enjoyable to be in through clearly planned and articulated spaces.

The practice was a finalist for the 2018 Home of the Year Award for their H01 House, a very clever compact multi-levelled solution for a small site that took home the ‘Best Small Home’ award.

Small, tough and described by the Home of the Year judges as somewhat monastic, the winner of Best Small Home is the perfect example of only building what you need. Set on a steep site in Cashmere, Christchurch, the H01 House, by Braden Harford, fits a lot of drama into its 85-square-metre frame. Soaring windows let light into the moody, charcoal interior and the tough concrete exterior is softened by timber accents inside. The judges were impressed by the poetic restraint shown in the design of this home.
